Group Support

Engaging With Others That Are Grieving…

Taking Time support groups offer the opportunity for the bereaved to be with others who have experienced the death of a loved one or person who was important in their lives.  Members meet on a regular basis and find that they are not alone. This common bond provides the opportunity for the group members to express feelings, listen, share, and learn from each other in a confidential and comfortable setting.  Grief support groups provide emotional support, validation, and education about grief. The opportunity for members to help each other often brings strength, confidence, meaningful connections, and a new sense of purpose.

Stories Of Hope

  • It was amazing to find others feeling like I felt and to be able to share our thoughts with one another.

  • Not going to lie, it was hard coming to the first meeting but stick with it and give it a try.

  • It’s okay to be nervous - believe me! Everyone is thinking the same thing, I think. My guess is most people feel awkward, but it does gets better.

  • Be open minded about everyone’s situation; you might not understand what they’re going through – just listen and be there.

  • I know that you may not want to come here, or you may find it meaningless, but it isn’t as bad as you think. It became pretty meaningful for me once I met with the group regularly.

  • I always enjoyed coming and I hope you do too. I even made friends that I still get together with.

  • The first day is probably going to be awkward meeting everyone for the first time, but each meeting gets better as you get to know one another.
